Tonight, I am trying to make the best of a tropical storm by having a small dinner party.
For starters, a little finger food always works well, so I will be making baked goat cheese crostinis. I put these together a couple of weeks ago and love how easy they are, but present very well and, if you like goat cheese, are amazingly delicious. All you need is one French baguette, a couple vine ripe tomatoes (grape or beefsteak variety won't work here), and a log of goat cheese. The log shape works best for cutting the appropriate slices onto each crostini.
For the main course, I have been marinating steak tips all afternoon (I have, after all, been stuck inside from the torrential rain) in a sauce combination that is one of my favorites: plenty of Worcestershire, cracked pepper, sea salt, crushed rosemary and garlic spices or the real thing, and drizzled at the very end with just a touch of clover honey for the salty-sweet combo.
Most importantly though is having put together a recipe for a great evening including friends and good food. Meal prep is already underway and my friends are headed over with the wine so ciao for now so I can do a little last minute chopping and slicing.
