Dinner last night at G'Vanni's was delicious. Grill Guy (AKA taste-tester) and I went to see the new movie Inglourious Basterds then had dinner in the North End where, in case you're not from around here, you can find an Italian restaurant every 10 feet.
I ordered a glass of the house Shiraz, Grill Guy had the Merlot, and we started off the meal with the prosciutto wrapped mozzarella. It was very tasty, however I found myself adding pepper to taste to balance the saltiness of the prosciutto. For our principale, I had the fettuccine carbonara, Grill Guy had the veal special, and while I rather enjoyed it, I always find myself wishing restaurants would make a lighter sauce or just put less on the dish. I guess I will just have to continue my search for the perfectly balanced carbonara that has the richness of the egg and cream sauce but doesn't drown the flavor of the bacon and spice.
Overall though, a lovely meal. Good service in an intimate setting. Thanks G'Vanni!
